  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

Once again Disney takes us to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars The Last Jedi. This film picks up time-wise right after the end of the first movie in this trilogy, The Force Awakens.

As the movie progresses we find that some of our favorite characters still have much to learn about themselves and what Force wills for the galaxy. Others learn what it means to be a part of something more than themselves and carry the mantle of hope for the future.

The special effects in the film are phenomenal and are well used. The only real problem I have is in the editing and shooting side of the film. There are a few scenes where you have the abrupt realization that you are not actually there, a part of the action, but in the theater watching the film.

As for the development of the current trilogy, this movie does a decent job of giving us a bridge to where the story will go in the final chapter. We have been given an intro to the characters in Episode VII. Episode VIII gave us a plot development setting us up nicely, in my opinion, for what will hopefully be a stellar conclusion in Episode IX whatever the title may be.

With a bit of reservation I give the film:

Nice way to give people a heads up on what to expect without providing any spoilers. I've avoided posting anything on the movie (apart from sharing your review on Facebook) because I'm too tempted to pick everyone's brains on what they thought of certain character's development, events that took place in the movie, as well as the all-important speculations... and whether some of them have been answered or further complicated. I guess we'll have to wait another couple of years to find out. *sigh*
