  1. The niqab - why are we really against it?

I read an article the other day about "The weak and uninspiring case against the niqab" and felt compelled to say a word or two on the subject. While I can safely claim that I know a great deal more about the niqab than I did say a decade ago, I don't profess to know as much as I'd like, and I'm certainly not in a position to speak on behalf of any of my niqab-wearing sisters, except to ...
  2. What energy are you giving back?

This is hardly an original concept — it's been said so many times in so many ways — it's just my little contribution to an idea about which I'm passionate. And while many have taken credit for its origin, my own particular play on these words is a nod to Galatians 6:7-9.

If I say I will "keep you in my thoughts and prayers", you can take me at my word. I don't say it because it sounds good or because it's something that I think I should ...
  5. Homemade chocolate, you say?

After getting bit by the baking bug the other night, I thought I'd try my hand at chocolate chip cookies. I searched online for a diabetic-friendly recipe for chocolate chips, crossing my fingers that I had all the necessary ingredients... and that such a beast even existed.

After sifting through countless recipes, this one by Maggie took the cake (or "cookie" in ...
