The Dragon Guide to Leveling up a New Character
Kudos to NCsoft for making Lineage II easier to learn and enjoy for new players (and old) in Goddess of Destruction. Oz and I had fun yesterday leveling up new toons and testing out the new leveling bonuses for ourselves. Leveling up has never been easier... or quicker. In addition to the easy-to-understand guides, in and out of game, level-specific gear and weapon are gifted at certain milestones. You can literally start out with 0 adena and level up without having to dip into your other toons' collective pocketbooks.
Check out the Path to Awakening page for some easy instructions (and pics!) to help you get started. I've added some excerpts from this and other pages to give you a taste of the info they have to offer. Do yourself a favor and click on the links below to view the full details on each topic. The reading is not overwhelming, and you can skim through to the parts that are relevant to you at the time.
The Path to Awakening will propel you toward your destiny
Receive free rewards at key milestones in the game to help you progress to higher levels faster than ever. As you journey to glory you will be guided along a clear path of attainable goals and given rewards for achieving those goals. This web guide will be your constant companion as you rise through the ranks toward the primary turning point in Goddess of Destruction at level 85...the Awakening!

Level 1-18
The quest series from level 1 through 18 concentrates on teaching you different game systems and functions as you level up and the story unfolds.
When you first enter the game, after a cutscene ends, you find yourself in a large, elegant room with glowing lights, other players, and a few NPCs wandering around. Nearby, at the top of a few steps, is the NPC Pantheon. Speak to him, click Quest, and progress through the dialogue to begin the first quest in the series.

Where to Go Next
The newbie quest series continues up to level 40 and your second class transfer. Upon completing your first class transfer, the next quest can be acquired from an NPC in the Administration Office—the NPC will have a quest icon over his or her head. Many players reach level 40 after about an hour, but you’re encouraged to enjoy the game at your own pace.
After level 40, the great adventure is reborn! You are now on your own and encouraged to explore the world, take on new quests, try out PvP combat, challenge raid bosses of your level, and more.

There are a few ways to help you decide where to hunt next (after reaching your second class change, and even beyond).
- Open up your map (Alt+M), World Info, Hunting Zone, then click on Level to sort the list by level.
- Check out the Path to Awakening page. You'll need to log in (using your game login info, not your master account). Enter your server name and the character you're playing on. Check out the map and the info below the map for suggestions.
- Double-click on the Goddess of Destruction Guide Level 40-85 that you should have in your inventory or storage.
- And then, of course, there's the Where to Go Next online guide (described above).
The only issue we really came across was trying to find mobs in the quest hunting zones. While there's a great many of them, and they spawn quickly, a lot of folks will kill steal. I have yet to determine if it's first hit or most damage that earns you the quest item when someone does try to ks you, but from what I observed, I'm leaning towards damage. The first set of packages you receive include one of each type of No Grade weapon, which gives you an opportunity to try them all out. I tried using the bow to get first hit on a mob, after some frustration vying with nukers for mobs. At first it seemed that if I got first hit, I got the quest item. But occasionally I noticed that if the nuker did a heavy hit (crit maybe?) I wasn't able to pick up the drops, and no quest item popped up. If anyone can confirm whether it's first hit or most damage done, please post here.
There was another hitch when we found ourselves ready to take the next step in the series of quests, but were unable to take it. It seems that by partying up, we didn't get the optimal exp and weren't at the right level to start the next quest. It seems that doing these quests solo is the way to go. It didn't take us long at all to drop party and get the 2 levels we needed. For the quest items themselves, it seemed easier to stay in party. The quest reward randomly went to either one of us.
A word of advice: don't let the ks'ers and rude players get to you. They want you to go red. Working off your karma (now referred to as "reputation") has never been more difficult. You need to kill 700 mobs of your level, or other chaotic chars in the same level range, or pay personal reputation points to have it removed. All methods are rather costly and/or time-consuming. In other words, it will hurt you far more than it will them. Ignore them, move on. If you want a funky green name, however, kill reds within your same level range. I haven't discovered how many it takes yet, so please share this info if you know. Personally, I don't want a green name. It clashes with the clan tag and my gear. Feel free to make me dark blue though.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here. Either I, or another clan member, will do our best to help. Good luck and happy hunting!

Re: The Dragon Guide to Leveling up a New Character
howdie all, i have finally gotten into the game and started playing. since i dont have the best gaming pc out there my first experience was rather bad. there were so many people on i couldnt even move. i fianlly settled on the mega server one since it was newly opened but i still have issues in towns around the gk's. i do have a bit of info with regards to your questions.
1. as far as i can tell quest items go to the final hit, amount of damage only goes for drops.
2. it take 360 rep points to get the green name i'm not sure how many you get per red kill but i know it take that many. fyi i have a green name but i had a blue one first. once i killed a few reds my name went green.
and i agree don't pk its not worth it. not only do you have to kill 700 mobs, you get no xp while your doing it. that really suxs. and getting killed does nothing. but as one who absolutely hated to do class change quest (except to help with raven updates lol) i actually find the god version enjoyable. and soloin is not all that bad and the quest really help with the exp. i really havent played that much with work and family and all but i have managed to get in A grade. i did make an se figuring it would be easier to get in parties to help with lvl'n before i realized i could solo but with all the new changes to skills i really like my se. i dropped a sws in b grade when i was in c and now that i have A,the reds who come into my areas to take my mobs don't have a chance. i have 1080 rep points now lol. i should leave them alone but i cant get away from the fact that they prob pk some lowbie thinkin they were tough and deserve to die. not to mention they were in my lvln spot. nothing like a nuker who can battle heal themself. at some point when i reach 80 i'll pay to switch servers and play with you guys if you will have me. until then enjoy. and may all of you have a very Merry Christmas and healthy and happy New Year.

Re: The Dragon Guide to Leveling up a New Character
Hey alex! Good to see you on GoD... even if you are on another server. We're really looking for friends to help us level up academy toons to help us with clan rep pts as we rarely recruit outside of our friend circle. I know your time is short, but please consider creating a toon on Chronos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
As for the green name, Oz got one after killing one red on one of his new toons. The level difference may play a role as to how many you have to kill to get the green name. I didn't know you could buy a green name with rep pts. I guess I'll never look at green names the same way.

hey kiddo, how have you been??? i think you misunderstood me, i don't think you can buy a green name but once i had 360 rep points my name went green. i wasnt sure if it was one or two red kills to get it. but since i have been killing reds my points have gone up. anyway the only reason i went to that server is i thought it would be easier since it had just started and i wouldnt have to worry about gettin pk'd as much, while i was lvl'n. and i didn't want to seem like a noob askin you guys for gear and stuff. little did i know about the new rules. i did go into vent a few times but didnt see any of the people i knew so i just decided to start fresh to try it out. it really isn't bad to lvl even with the 1x lol. but because you asked i will indeed make a toon to help you with rep points. i'll be in touch before i make him so i get him in the clan early to max the points. talk to you soon.
